Premium Cost Containment Program:

Colorado Workforce Website
In 1989, the Colorado legislature
enacted the Premium Cost Containment Program. Under
this program, employers who implement and maintain a
standardized loss prevention/loss control program,
and achieve certification status are eligible for a
reduction on their workers’ compensation insurance
premiums. By preventing injuries and lowering costs
of claims, these employers also contribute to the
stabilization and possible reduction of the standard
rates set for their respective industries.
Certification status is granted by the Premium Cost
Containment Board to employers who can document that
they have had a loss prevention/loss control program
in effect for at least one year.
- Requirements for
certification:
- Declaration of Policy
- Safety/Risk Assessment Committee and/or
Coordinator
- Safety/Loss Prevention Rules
- Safety/Loss Prevention Training
- Designated Medical Provider
- Written Claims Management Procedures

Safety training starts immediately upon hire at American
Infrastructure. Each new hire is introduced to our
extensive safety program with a video orientation on
trench safety. It continues on site as each crew
has a weekly toolbox safety meeting to review specifics
for their work that week. Monthly foreman meetings
are held to discuss safety, production and teamwork. At
these meetings, the monthly safety bonus is awarded to
the crew that best exemplifies our company policies in
safety, care of equipment, productivity and teamwork. To
complete the ongoing process, the company holds
mandatory quarterly safety training for each and every
field employee which covers topics pertinent to our
industry.

Our crews
are equipped with the newest and best equipment
available which they inspect daily for issues and send a
weekly report to the office to address any foreseeable
problems. Each piece is equipped with GPS units which
allow us, or our equipment maintenance contractor, to
constantly monitor engine pressures, hydraulic pressures
and overall efficiency. Hydraulic “quick couplers”
allow our operators to change attachments safely from
inside the cab with a push of a button, eliminating a
high injury exposure task.
